#131313: Code Black

An experiment in giving

Updates: Pending Projects

Keeping it brief this week my friends, as I’m in training all week long. So, here’s the latest on the 3 campaigns that are still in their fund raising stages.

Project 6: Plight of the Pika

This campaign currently stands at $1,895 of its $5,000 goal, from 17 donors so far. As RocketHub is a KIA (keep it all) site, this money is paid directly, and is already going to help training and outreach for Citizen Scientists. Their response to my funding was lightening fast, as I already received the note cards that come as the swag offered for my donation level. All 3 cards have the same image, but are of thick, quality stock.

By the way, if you haven’t visited the campaign site yet, you really should go and watch to April Craighead’s video. There you will be able to hear for yourself how this little ‘mouse’ roars, as I mentioned in my previous post. They are insanely cute, so be prepared to go “aww”.

And if you want to learn more about the Citizen Scientist research that’s going on, be sure to check out the Craighead Institute’s website. Go to Projects – Climate Change – Pika Research for information and further links on Pika research around the region, and more Pika pics for some cute overload!

Project 5: Make College More than a Dream

Sam’s project has raised $4,421 to date, from 59 donors. This is far short of the $10,000 he needs to take the largest number of Atlanta area students to visit the greatest number of colleges on the up-coming campus tour. They’ve only got a couple of days left to raise the money they need, so if you know anyone who would be interested in supporting this wonderful man and his students, please encourage them to visit his site. At this point in time, they’d need an angel to make their full goal, but this is another KIA, so every dollar goes directly to fund the trip.

Project 4: iPad for Literacy

I am happy to report that since my last update, two additional donors have contributed to fund Ms. McElwee’s iPad purchase! They still have a way to go to raise the last $250 before mid-May, but it will only take $10 each from 25 people who care about improving literacy among some of Boston’s most under served children.

And for those folks who would like other ways to keep up with Code Black projects and updates, I’m working on building a Facebook page. I’ll post details and links as soon as its ready to share.
